We get a lot of requests for a sewing machine that would be ideal for children or beginners. The following is our opinion as to what machines we would recommend.
Our personal favorite is the Janome Jem Gold 660. Standard Janome quality and durability make this the perfect machine for a first time sewist or for taking to classes.
There’s also the Brother LS 1717, Brother LS-2125i, Euro Pro EP150, and the Simplicity SA1600 Liberty is nice for beginners as well.
If you would prefer a lower priced, as seen on TV, etc., child’s sewing machine, we also offer several models, such as Barbie II, Janome Hello Kitty 11702 and Janome Hello Kitty 11706. They are not as durable as the higher priced machines, but they can handle basic sewing needs, are lightweight, portable (some also run on batteries), and come in many different colors.
